We're not gonna sugar-coat it: Cell service here is spotty at best, nonexistent at worst. While unplugging certainly has its benefits, you'll save yourself a headache if you:
Connect to WiFi using our guest network "Craftsbury Farmhouse"--accessible in and around the farmhouse building.
Make WiFi phone calls using FaceTime, Messenger, WhatsApp, etc.
Start your GPS route while connected to WiFi. Better yet, jot down/screen shot directions in advance.
Do as the locals do: Embrace real-world connections with the people and places right in front of you.
-
One of our favorite things about living in the Northeast Kingdom is the slower pace--no hustling at all hours around here! In fact:
In Craftsbury, the Genny (groceries) and the C Village (gas & convenience) close at 7pm. Local restaurants aren't open for every meal of the day, every day of the week.
A little planning goes a long way:
Don't drive on empty!
Pack snacks and supplies
Research local businesses in advance

Vermont's dirt roads boast incredible views and abundant wildlife. They're hilly and bumpy and bendy, sometimes icy or muddy. Know where you're going before you leave and take it slow! The destination is worth the journey.
-
This is the mountains, y'all--the weather is all over the place! Hot days become chilly nights, rain freezes into snow... so:
Check the weather ahead of time so you know what you're in for!
Bring layers and functional shoes
